Kids Ad Lib presents - Robin Hood
Our first show in 2001, Robin Hood, took Earlswood palladium by storm. The audience raved about the enthusiasm, joy and sheer professionalism of the young actors on the stage. So, how did we build such a successful show?
There are stacks of different versions of the Robin Hood story, so we didn't feel at all naughty in adding yet another (loosely based on various other versions, but taking a huge chunk from Robin Hood- stagekits, by Pam Wedgwood and Faye Gregory). We needed a play with 70 parts — quite a tall order — so Friar Tuck gained a whole band of brothers from all walks of life; and Marian gained a tribe of fast-talking maids. Two characters who are distant ancestors of the unpleasant Crabbe and Goyle (of Harry Potter fame) make an appearance — and are just as dumb as their descendents!
Add to all this, the usual mixture of boy meets girl — fall in lurve — baddy tries to interfere (bigtime); throw in a generous mixture of highway robbery, fighting, mediaeval banquets, and fairs, archery, and song, and there you have it — the Kids Ad Lib production of Robin Hood!
